You might have considered or even tried martial arts, self defence classes or combat sports and been frustrated but realise that these are either not very practical for self defence, can take a long time to learn, or the environment was intimidating.

Krav Maga translates as "hand-to-hand combat" and is a practical self-defence system that teaches you how to prevent, deal with threat and violence. It is an effective, real-world skill set consisting of techniques and tactics that equips you to prevent, handle, and avoid violence—no matter your age, fitness level, or experience.
Krav Maga was developed by Imi Lichtenfeld, a champion boxer and wrestler who was involved in many street fights in pre-world war 2 violence in Europe. He had to adapt his conventional training to what actually worked in street situation which might involve multiple attackers, conventional and improvised weapons.
While having some similarities to Martial Arts or Combat sports it's superior for self defence because it has specifically been developed for real self defence situations. These do not conform to sporting rules or traditions

Krav Maga defences do not depend on strength or size, but you certainly increase your chances of avoiding injury or worse in a confrontational situation if you are fitter and stronger.
You don't need to be fit to start Krav Maga but you will quickly get fitter. Each session starts with a warm-up to get the heart pumping, stretching and mobility drills to avoid injury, and bodyweight exercise to build strength.
In the main part of the class you will work hard on fast-paced drills and self defence scenarios. We use pad drills to practice striking combinations, and partner drills to work on defences and counter-attacks for different self defence scenarios.
Our dynamic drills and scenarios will also challenge your mind, so you can perform these skills under pressure in real close quarters situations. The intensity is calibrated to your level, so as a beginner training is moderate, but your capabilities will quickly increase.
An example might be dealing with a scenario with 2-attackers making different types of attacks. Being able to respond to effectively to different scenarios like this is very invigorating and lifts your general confidence and resilient, with a positive impact on other parts of your life.

We'll meet you before your session to answer any questions and make sure you're good to go for your first session. This will include organising a suitable training partner.

✅ Absolutely! Our classes cater to all fitness levels. You’ll learn foundational techniques in a supportive environment—no prior experience needed.
👕 Wear comfortable workout clothes (e.g., t-shirt, shorts or activewear for women) and trainers. Bring water and a towel.
🥋 Krav Maga focuses on real-world self-defence, not sport or tradition. You’ll learn practical techniques against common threats (e.g., strike, grabs, chokes, weapons) in minimal time.
⏱️ Consistency is key! Most members train 2x/week and notice improved reflexes and confidence within a month.
