Is a Krav Maga Trial Class Suitable For You?

Many people arrive feeling a bit nervous. That’s completely normal.

What Happens in Your First Class

When you arrive, you won’t be thrown into anything unfamiliar or intense.

Your first class is structured, guided, and designed to help you feel comfortable from the start.

Here’s how it typically flows:

1. Welcome from the Instructor

You’ll be greeted by the instructor and shown where to go. There’s time to ask questions, let us know if you’re new to training, and settle in without feeling rushed.

2. A Gentle, Guided Warm-Up

The warm-up is about getting your body moving safely — not pushing limits or testing fitness. Everything is explained clearly, and you’re encouraged to move at a pace that feels right for you.

3. Learning the Basics

You’ll be introduced to fundamental movements and simple techniques, with clear instruction and plenty of demonstration. Nothing is assumed — beginners are expected here.

4. Controlled, Supported Practice

Any partner work is done in a safe, cooperative way. You’re guided step by step, and there’s no pressure to perform, compete, or keep up with anyone else.

5. Time to Pause, Ask, and Reflect

At the end of class, there’s space to ask questions, get clarity, or simply take a moment to notice how it felt. You’re free to take things in and decide what you’d like to do next.

The People You’ll Train With

Classes are made up of everyday people from across the North Shore — different ages, backgrounds, fitness levels, and reasons for training. Some are here to build confidence, some for personal safety, and some simply to feel more capable in their own bodies.

What they have in common isn’t toughness or experience — it’s a willingness to learn and train respectfully. Training is cooperative, not competitive, and there’s no pressure to perform or keep up. You’re can work at your own pace, ask questions when you need to, and take breaks if required.

What If You’re Unsure After the Class?

There’s no expectation to decide anything on the day. Some people know straight away that they’d like to continue. Others prefer to take time, think it over, or ask more questions later. All of that is fine.

You’re welcome to leave after the class without signing up or committing to anything. The trial is simply a way to experience the training and decide whether it’s right for you.
